- Assisting everyone in the LCS family to think, speak, and live as shaped by a biblical worldview
Liberty Christian School is more than a place to be taught an ordinary education. We are here to assist parents in their God-given role of bringing their children up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. (Eph. 6:4) Liberty is not an end, but a means, to families wishing to teach their children to view the world through the lens of the Gospel. We see Liberty as an extension of the Church and of families, the two structures God put into place to carry truth from generation to generation.
Teaching from a Christian Worldview
What does it mean to teach with a Christian worldview? It means that everything taught to the children - their curriculum, societal issues, interacting with each other - is taught from the perspective of what the Bible teaches. They are taught the sovereignty of God in all that He is and does, and his lordship over every aspect of creation is celebrated. Children are encouraged to discover, develop and use their gifts and talents in service to God in every part of their life. We strive to promote service before success and success as seen in the light of God's grace.
Every subject can be a tool to seeing life through godly eyes. We use the Bible as a tool that helps children get to know God and understand the world through God’s eyes. For example, when learning about the ocean, the children would be taught Who created it, Who is in control of it, and will be encouraged to praise the Maker of it all. They will also be taught to view the creation as it is in a "state of groaning" because of the fall of man - each waiting for the final redemption when Jesus returns. (Romans 8)
The upper grades may deal with the more complex issues of a fallen world that may arise such as divorce, suicide, and swearing. The students will be guided through these issues, seeing them according to the Word of God. This is also a great opportunity to explore the imperfect nature of the world and ask questions such as "Why does God allow suffering?"
Each area - whether math, art, music or literature - provides us with ample opportunities to teach the students to look at it according to the Gospel.
Our team of administrators and educators play a vital role in the atmosphere of our school. Each teacher is prayerfully chosen and hand-picked for the job. They are highly qualified academically and are committed to serving the Lord by teaching and nurturing the students in their care. The staff and teachers meet each school day morning to study God's Word together and pray for the school, students and their families. This is much more than just a "job" to our staff, it is their calling and service to the Lord.
Partnering with Parents
Liberty exists because of families who what a different type of education for their children. We are not here because we are tied to a particular church, denomination or the government. We are here because Christian parents are striving to fulfill their God-given role of bringing their children up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. (Eph. 6:4) They understand that the Bible tells us that the education of children is first the responsibility of the parents. Thus, they desire to partner with Liberty Christian where the beliefs and ideals of their family will be upheld and respected. Parents are encouraged to be very involved in the day to day activities of the school, therefore, fulfilling their role as their child's main educator. This does not mean, however, that any of the parents teach or have an authoritative role over the teacher in the classroom. The parents respect the knowledge and skill of the teacher, and gladly partner with them in the training of their children.
Another distinctive of Liberty is the use of the Abeka curriculum in their academic studies. This curriculum not only teaches the children from a Christian worldview, but is a cohesive curriculum that builds on itself each year making sure that each teacher correctly builds on the skills the students learned in previous years. Our school also employs specialized teachers in the areas of writing, music, art, and physical education to ensure that the students are receiving strong and challenging academics in every area.
