On April 26, 2024, Liberty Christian hosted the first annual Run for Liberty Color Run at Martin Track. Over 250 students, parents, staff, volunteers and community members showed up to dash through clouds of color, enjoy yummy food and raise some funds toward our property purchase. The event started at 5:00PM with Happy Wanderer, Dominos, Whitman Acres and Royal Parties Cotton Candy providing dinner and treats. Lou the Onion of the Walla Walla Sweets joined in the fun for the run warm up by Mrs. Cannone (our PE teacher) and the National Anthem sung by our own Jordan Breithaupt, 7th and 8th grade teacher. At 6:00PM. the 1K run started with a countdown. Magenta, blue, green and orange color filled the sky as participants walked, ran or danced around the track. The serious runners also joined in the subsequent 5K run which was easily won by 8th grader Jonathan Pullman. More than 30 volunteers worked together for set up and tear down, color throwing, cleaning the portable toilets, running the music, registering runners and announcing the event. At the end of the night, Liberty Christian received a little over $31,000 in event proceeds that will go toward our final property payment at the end of September.
